Q. What is the ground like?
A. The permanent arenas are spacious, level and well groomed with good grass cover. The soil is reasonably well draining and can take a lot of rain.

Q. What is the parking like, will I get stuck when it’s wet?
A. Not usually. The parking field entrance has a hard track up the hill and vehicles can face downhill for the exit. Trailers with cars can park in the yard car park using the main gate. A tractor is on site.

Q. When do the entries close? Can I enter on the day?
A. Competitions with individual start times ie. Dressage, hunter trials, ODE’s must be entered in advance, by the Wednesday before if it’s a weekend fixture and by the Tuesday before if it’s a Thursday fixture. Other classes can be entered in advance or on the day

Q. What time does my class start?
A. All classes with individual start times will be posted on the website. Other competitions will have a start time for the first class and unless stated otherwise classes will follow on without a break.

Q. How do I withdraw? When can I expect a refund?
A. Withdrawals received by email, fax, answer phone or in writing before the close of entries will receive a refund on receipt of a SAE. A small administration charge may be deducted. You must apply within one month of the competition, clearly stating date, class, rider, horse and fee.

Q. Why do I pay my number deposit in advance and can I get it back?
A. Number bibs will be left on display for you to collect, no need to remember to bring change. Your deposit will be returned when you bring back your bib to the secretary. If you withdraw after close of entries you are still entitled to your deposit back.

Q. How do I find out the results?
A. Results will be posted on the website.

Q. Where are the toilets?
A. There is a large toilet block behind the horsewalker

Q. Which ring is which?
A. Ring 1 is nearest the horse box park and Ring 2 is nearest the Secretary’s cabin. The warm up is in the paddock in front of the horsewalker and the outdoor school is past the walker down between the toilets and the indoor school.

Q. Do I have to wear a body protector for jumping?
A. Recommended for show jumping and required for cross country.

Q. Can I wear XC gear for show jumping?
A. Yes, on a day when cross country is taking place ie. A One Day Event

Q. Where do I get a copy of the dressage test?
A. Pachesham Walk and Trot tests are available to download from the website. For other dressage tests follow the link to the British Dressage website.

Q. When can I collect my dressage sheet?
A. For dressage competitions, after the results have been announced over the tannoy. Alternatively leave a stamped addressed envelope with the secretary. For ODE’s, after the scores have been posted on the scoreboard.

Q. Can I stable my horse overnight for a show?
A. This is usually possible. Automatic water bowls and some bedding provided. £15 per night.

A. We probably do what ever you want!

Q. What’s the hacking like?
A. Pachesham has its own (modest) woodland ride. There are several different commons but roadwork is necessary to get to them and it wouldn’t be suitable for a traffic shy horse.

Q. Is someone on site 24/7?
A. Yes.

Q. What time is the yard open and closed?
A. No set times

Q. Is there separate grazing for mares and geldings?
A. Yes, also individual turnout if required.

Q. Is turnout limited?
A. There is no turnout if the ground is frozen or there is heavy rain or when there is a cross country competition taking place. In the winter horses will get approx 3-4 hours a day. In the summer turn out can be night or day time

Q. Do DIYs have to buy feed and bedding from you?
A. Optional.

Q. Can I use my own trainer, vet, farrier?
A. Yes if you want to. Our vets are Mayes and Scrine, Farrier Chris Khor and regular trainers are Andrew Day, Andrew Murphy, John Smart, Linda York.

Q. Do you take stallions?
A. This may be possible.
