Pachesham One Day Events – the ultimate mastery for any horse and rider partnership.

A one day event allows the competitor to take part in three disciplines, dressage, cross country & show jumping all within one day. It is a test of skill, stamina and partnership for both the horse and the rider, whilst at the same time being one of the most exciting and exhilarating of all the competitions.

Pachesham novice One Day Events are an excellent way of introducing young or inexperienced horses and riders, to the eventing world, in a competitive, yet supportive environment. Whilst our more advanced classes offer a challenge to even the most practiced of combinations.

On the Day of your Pachesham One Day Event

The first discipline to be completed in our One Day Events is the dressage test, these vary enormously in the levels of skill and experience required but whilst being testing at all of these levels they are still enjoyable to ride. Next at our One Day Event you will be expected to complete our cross country course, this can sometimes be the most nerve racking of the three disciplines for the rider, but at the same time the most exhilarating. Pachesham has over 30 cross country fences, although not all are used in each class. These fences vary from under 45cm up to 1m, the height you will be jumping will be clearly stated in our schedule, enabling you to choose the One Day Event level that best suits you. The first few fences, especially in our novice courses are inviting and confidence giving, allowing both horse and rider to settle into their stride before tackling the more testing fences that come later in the course.

The final discipline in our One Day Events is the show jumping. Our show jumping courses are built professionally and we pride ourselves in making them comfortable but testing for each horse and rider combination.

Each of our One Day Events is attended by qualified first aiders, trained stewards and highly respected judges, enabling you to feel confident competing your horse here.

British Eventing in history

Eventing derives from deep rooted military exercise, specifically designed to teach and educate the mounted soldiers and their military horses, and enable them to face the challenges they may have had to face in the army. Military horses were expected to travel long distances encountering varying terrain, negotiate natural obstacles along the way and then perform strict, regimented movements in parades. It is these exercises that formed the basis of the Olympic sport which we can compete in today. Eventing was first included in the Olympics in 1900 but it is worth noting that only military officers were invited to compete! Whether you have your sights set towards the London 2012 Olympics or you simply want some fun and excitement Pachesham One Day Events have something to offer you.

Pachesham runs its One Day Events in accordance with the British Eventing rules and guidelines, this means that we are able to offer the best standards of service to all our competitors, and ensures that our events run smoothly.
